Candidates running for parliament are required to pass a test of their knowledge of the state language.

A special commission has been set up by the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda (CCER) for testing parliament candidates’ knowledge of the state language

The commission is led by Advisor to the President for Legal Issues and President’s Representative to the Parliament Zarif Alizoda, and its members include known Tajik linguists.

Parliament candidates pass a test of their knowledge of the state language in five days after submitting an application for registration.

If the candidate fails to pass the state language test, he/she will be refused to be registered with the CCER.

Tajik parliament candidates have been required to pass the state language test since 2015.
