Declarator, a database of income and property declarations file by Russian state and municipal officials, has drawn up a map of real estate objects of Russian public officials abroad.
More than 6,000 real estate objects in 75 countries of the world are indicated on this map.
Having analyzed more than 270,000 declarations, the Declaration team has come to a conclusion than the majority of real estate objects of Russian public officials are located in the former Soviet republics.
Only three far abroad countries – Bulgaria, Spain and Finland – are among the top ten countries where real estate objects of Russian public officials are located.
The majority of these real estate objects are reportedly located in Kazakhstan (688 objects), Armenia (624 objects), Belarus (573 objects) and Tajikistan (559 objects).
The Declarator project has been developed by Transparency International Russia (http://declarator.org) and contains a fully functional database of Russian state and municipal officials who publish anti-corruption and pre-election declarations, where they must state the income of all the members of their families, as well assets owned, such as real estate property and vehicles. This database aggregates and keeps in the same place the declarations from the official websites of several thousands of government and public bodies, thus allowing for considerably easier searching through the declarations and their systematization for analysis.
