The Dushanbe based garment factory Tajtex has begun producing face masks due to the global coronavirus pandemic, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

An official source within a MoINT says the factory produces face masks and special medical protective gowns at customers’ requests.

According to him, the enterprise now produces 10,000 face masks per day.

200 people work for Tajtex, the source added.   

Recall, the MoINT said on April 3 that Nasojii Tojik (Tajik Textiles) and Nasojii Khujand have begun producing blankets, bed sheets and hospital patient clothing alongside other types of clothes.

Dushanbe-based Open Joint-Stock Company (OJC) Guliston has begun producing medical protective clothing, while Sifat Sanoat LTD has begun producing medical gowns.  

Pharmtex LTD produces means for personal safety and medical gauze to order. 

To-date, more than fifteen enterprises in Tajikistan have begun producing face masks and other types of protective equipment. 

These measures have been taken in connection with the coronavirus pandemic and for the purpose of preventing the spread of the illness in the country and ensuring sanitary and epidemiological safety of the population.  

Besides, a number of enterprises of the country’s food industry, including the Khujand-based MMK Ltd, Sakho and Co. based in the northern city of Guliston and MMD Ltd based in the Roudaki district, have organized production of hygiene and antiseptic preparations For the purpose of preventing the spread of a novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Tajikistan has not reported any confirmed COVID-19 infection yet.
