DUSHANBE, May 3, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon has issued instructions to the country’s authorities to provide extraordinary grants to Tajik veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

According to presidential press service, this issue was discussed at a May 2 meeting of heads of some central organs of the state power presided over by Emomali Rahmon.

5,249 veterans of war living in Tajikistan will receive 300 somonis each on occasion of Victory Day, which marked on May 9.  

 The head of state charged central and local authorities to take measures to hold events dedicated to the Victory Day on proper level.  He also called on heads of governmental organizations and public associations to provide assistance to the veterans of war and all elderly who do not have relatives to support. 

At present an average monthly pension of veterans and invalids of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 living in Tajikistan fluctuates from 261 to 267 somonis.
