The work of a large oil refinery in Tajikistan is postponed due to lack of raw materials

Date:

The plant's management is negotiating with suppliers from Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia.

The launch of a large oil refinery built in the «Dangara» Free Economic Zone has been postponed due to lack of raw materials under acceptable conditions.

«The enterprise is completely ready for work, all the necessary infrastructure already exists», –  Safarali Taifurov, the deputy head of this FEZ, said.

He noted that the main problem is to provide this enterprise with crude oil.

Taifurov stressed that at the moment negotiations are underway on the supply of raw materials with companies from Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia.

He added that the launch of the refinery depends on finding oil under acceptable conditions, which can ensure the efficient operation of the enterprise.

Construction of a refinery with a design capacity of 1.2 million tons of oil per year, began in 2014. The enterprise was erected by the established Tajik-Chinese joint venture TK-oil, established by the Chinese company Dong Ying heli Investment and Development and the Tajik company “Hasan and Co”.

The share of the Chinese side in the project is 90%, the Tajik side – 10%.

The construction of the plant was completed two years ago, but its launch is still being postponed.

It was expected that at the first stage the plant will produce diesel fuel, as well as low-octane gasoline AI-80, AI-92 and construction bitumen.

At the next stage, the enterprise intended to produce European brands of gasoline – Euro-4 and Euro-5, as well as liquefied gas, diesel fuel, paraffin and construction bitumen.
