In Tajikistan, the cost of products of the food industry in January-November this year has increased on average by 12.5 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan. 

The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by a 35.3-percent increase in prices for milk, 20.1-percent percent rise in prices for potatoes, eggs – 19.3 percent, bakery products – 15.9 percent, and meat – 6.2 percent.  

Non-foodstuffs have reportedly risen in cost on average 5.2 percent over the same eleven-month period with the prices increasing most significantly for the following goods: coal – 12.9 percent; detergents – 10.1 percent; pharmaceutical products – 8.0 percent; building materials – 7.9 percent; coal – 6.8 percent; spare parts for transport – 6.0 percent; fabrics – 5.5 percent; and liquefied natural gas (LNG) – 4.5 percent.      

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population reportedly have increased on average by 3.8 percent over the first eleven months of this year.  Prices for air ticket and rates for domestic services have reportedly increased most significantly over the reporting period: 30 percent and 5.2 percent, respectively.  

Over the same eleven-month period, inflation in the country’s consumer goods sector has stood at 8.9 percent.

Over the last decade, the higher Inflation rate was reported in 2011 – 9.3 percent.  

This year, the government plans to curb inflation rate at 7.0 percent.  

Meanwhile, the World Bank predicts this year’s year-end inflation in Tajikistan at 10 percent.

Last year, the year-end inflation in the consumer goods sector reportedly stood at 8.0 percent.
