Over 23,000 individual entrepreneurs in Tajikistan shut down their businesses last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
Of them, more than 19,500 entrepreneurs reportedly worked on the basis of a patent, 1,300 entrepreneurs worked on the basis of a certificate and more than 2,200 are dehqon (peasant) farms.
Meanwhile, a total number of registered individual entrepreneurs reportedly increased last year by 31,500: more than 19,600 of them were registered as working on the basis of a patent; little more than 4,000 were registered as working on the basis of a certificate; and about 7,900 were registered as dehqon farms, the Agency for Statistics says.
As of January 1, 2021, a total number of individual entrepreneurs in the country was reportedly about 593,000. Only little more than half of them are active now, while others are not working. Reasons are not reported.
36.6 percent of active individual entrepreneurs have reportedly been registered in Sughd province, 31.8 percent in Khatlon province, 18.7 percent in districts subordinate to the center, 11.5 percent in Dushanbe, and 1.4 percent in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
