In January, inflation rate in Tajikistan stood at 0.7 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.    

Meanwhile, the cost of products of the food industry in January reportedly rose 13.2 percent compared to January 2019.  The Agency for Statistics says the increase in cost of products of the food industry was caused by a 12.8-percent increase in prices for bakery products, 5.1 percent rise in prices for meat, dairy products – 4.6 percent, eggs – 22.9 percent, sugar, tomatoes – 18.6 percent, potatoes – 14.7 percent, carrots – 11.8 percent, lemons – 5.5 percent, sugar – 4.6 percent, eggs – 3.0 percent.   

Compared to January 2019, non-foodstuffs in January this year rose in cost on average 6.1 percent with the prices increasing most significantly for the following goods: detergents – 9.7 percent; building materials – 9.0 percent; pharmaceutical products – 7.0 percent; fabrics – 6.2 percent, spare parts for transport – 5.8 percent; and liquefied natural gas (LNG) – 5.5  percent. 

Compared to January 20019, prices and rates for services rendered to the population reportedly increased on average by 3.8 percent.
