DUSHANBE, January 19, Asia-Plus – On Thursday January 18, Tajik and Afghan businessmen met in Dushanbe to discuss establishment of export/import of farm produce between the two countries, according to Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).
A source at the Tajik CCI said that Afghan entrepreneurs had arrive in Tajikistan to study Tajik market of agricultural out, seek potential partners and consider the possibility of launching joint ventures in the territories of both countries in the identified area.
Senior representatives from Tajikistan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MoAEP), Consumer’s Union Tojikmatlubot, Khurokvori (food industry) Corp and other organizations attended the meeting.
Afghanistan was represented at the meeting by Dr. Mahmoud Ghaznavi, Trade Attach?, Afghan embassy in Dushanbe, and D. Hakimzoda, an official with Agribusiness Section of the Center for Development of Afghanistan’s Exports, according to the source.
Tajik and Afghan entrepreneurs underlined the importance of establishing long-term cooperation in the field of agriculture and trade in farm produce.
Afghan officials noted that Afghanistan could supply food products and citruses to Tajikistan. They also expressed readiness to establish supply of Tajik fresh fruits and vegetables dried fruits to Afghanistan.
