China expected to deliver the next consignment of CoronaVac vaccine to Tajikistan on November 7

Date:

China is expected to deliver 500,000 more doses of CoronaVac vaccine to Tajikistan on the following Sunday (November 7), according to Khovar news agency.

“The vaccine will be delivered to the country as humanitarian aid,” Navrouz Jaffarov, an official with the Ministry of health and Social Protection of the Population (MoHSPP), was quoted as saying by Khovar

To-date, China has reportedly delivered more than 2 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Tajikistan.

The Beijing-based biopharmaceutical company Sinovac is behind the CoronaVac vaccine.

On June 1, 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) validated the CoronaVac vaccine for emergency use.  Sinovac has signed purchase agreements for 380 million doses from COVAX.

As of July 1, 2021, CoronaVac was the most widely used COVID-19 vaccine in the world, with 943 million doses delivered.  CoronaVac is being used in vaccination campaigns in various countries in Asia, South America, Central America, and Eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, Khovar says Tajikistan has received a total of 5,187 million dozes of various COVID-19 vaccines to date, including CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer and Sputnik V.

As of November 3, 2,777,812 people (46.5 percent) were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Tajikistan; 2,155,634 (37 percent) of them received both doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine.
