Xinhua reports China’s Tibet Everest Resources Co., Ltd proposes to set up a non-ferrous metal industrial park in Tajikistan.
The company reportedly plans to implement this large-scale project through its affiliate, Tajik-Sino Mining Company.
The industrial park is expected to create 10,000 new jobs in the country and boost investment in Tajikistan’s economy.
It is also noted that Tajik-Sino Mining Company last year provided 50 percent of the total production of the mining industry and 10 percent of the total volume of the country’s industrial production.
An industrial park (also known as industrial estate, trading estate) is an area zoned and planned for the purpose of industrial development. An industrial park can be thought of as a more "heavyweight" version of a business park or office park, which has offices and light industry, rather than heavy industry. Industrial parks are notable for being relatively simple to build; they often feature speedily erected single-space steel sheds. Industrial parks are usually located on the edges of, or outside, the main residential area of a city, and are normally provided with good transportation access, including road and rail.
Tajik-Sino Mining Company is located in the settlement of Zarnisor, which is administratively subordinate to the city of Guliston (formerly Qairoqqum), Sughd province. The enterprise was granted licenses for development of the lead and zinc deposits Altyn-Topkan and Pay-Buloq. More than 4,000 people now work for the company
In one of his interviews, Tajik-Sino Mining Company CEO, Li Yao Huwei, in particular, noted that the company has paid 33 billion somonis to Tajikistan’s budget in a form of taxes and provided 1.6 billion somonis in no-strings aid to the Government of Tajikistan.
