DUSHANBE, November 2, Asia-Plus – Commander-in-Chief of Russia’s Army Force, Army General Vladimir Mikhailov, is arriving in Dushanbe today night for a short working visit, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

Marouf Hasanov, the head of Tajikistan”s MoD Administration for Foreign Military Cooperation, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that the purpose of the visit is for the Russian military official to familiarize himself with a progress of rehabilitation of the airfield “Hissor” located in the area near the Ayni settlement, some 15-17 kilometers of Dushanbe, where air support of the Russian military base in Tajikistan will be deployed. 

According to Hasanov, Gen Mikhailov will visit the airfield tomorrow morning, at 11:00 a.m.  

Besides, Vladimir Mikhailov is expected to hand over four combat helicopters, two Mi-8s and two Mi-24s, to Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense.  The helicopters are handed over to the Tajik MoD under the military-technical cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation, Marouf Hasanov said.
