Iranian junior badminton players have won 8 out of 10 gold medals at the 2022 Tajikistan Junior Asian Badminton Championship that took place in Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, on August 12-15. 

IRNA reports Iran national junior badminton team returned home on Thursday from the 2022 Tajikistan Junior Asian Badminton Championship with 8 gold and four silver medals, and was received warmly by enthusiasts and provincial sports.

Deputy Head of Women Badminton Federation Fariba Madadi reportedly said at the welcoming ceremony for the team in Mashad that the level of the Central Asian and Asian teams in the competitions was high, especially in the presence of the strong teams from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The secretary of Badminton Federation and caretaker of the team participating in the event Farshad Nosrati said that this was the first time that the junior Iranian badminton team participated in international competitions from August 12 to 15, in both girls and boys field, in under 15 and under 17 fields, and they totally gained eight gold and four silver medals.

Nosrati reportedly said that the Iranian senior badminton teams always used to rank first in Asian competitions, and in these games too our junior players did well, thanks to their coaches’ efforts and quite close to ranking first.

The Head coach of the national senior team, Gholam Reza Baqeri, too, said that he was pleased with his team’s performance, and this was a good experience for them, according to IRNA.

Uzbekistan’s junior badminton team is in the second place with 10 medals (1 gold, four silver and five bronze medals) and Kazakhstan’s junior badminton team is in the third place with 10 medals (1 gold, 1 silver and 8 bronze medals).  

Tajikistan’s junior badminton team, which won seven medals (one silver and six bronze medals), finished fourth and Kyrgyzstan’s team with one bronze medal is in the fifth place.
