Russian Railways has decided to extend a 50% discount on transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, RZD-Partner.ru news agency reported on December 20 with reference to the company.

A 50% discount on the transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is extended for the whole of 2023.

In addition, Russian Railways extended a number of discounts for transportation to other domestic and foreign destinations.

A 50% discount on the import transportation of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan to Russia in refrigerated rolling stock owned by Uzbekistan Railways and Rohi Ohani Tojikiston (Tajik Railways) was reportedly valid since January 1, 2021.

Russian Railways has granted discounts on rail shipment of fruits and vegetables from Tajikistan since March 2006, when a 50-percent discount was granted for shipment of fruits and vegetables in refrigerator vans and a 25-percent discount for shipment of vegetables and fruits in goods trains.    

According to data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation over the first eleven months of this year has valued at 1.532.5 billion U.S. dollars.
