Tajik State Institute of Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda has official become an International University.
Tajik state-run news agency Khovar says that by government’s regulation issued on December 29, 2022 the Institute was renamed Tajik International University of Foreign Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda
Tajik State Institute of Languages named after Sotim Ulughzoda was founded in 1979 as a Pedagogical Institute of Russian language and Literature of Tajikistan. In 1992, the Institute was transformed into Tajik State Institute of Languages. On April 29, 2006, the Institute was named after Sotim Ulughzoda from April 29, 2009.
There are five faculties functioning in the Institute: the Faculty of Tajik Philology; the Faculty of Russian Philology; the English Language Faculty; the Faculty of Oriental Languages; the Faculty of European Languages; and the Department of Distance Education.
The University reportedly trains specialists in eleven languages, namely Tajik, Russian, English, German, French, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Arabic and Persian.
The Institute has established cooperation with fifty-two foreign Institutions and organizations.
