Cross-border market to be built at the Uzbek-Tajik border in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region

A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of a cross-border market at the Uzbek-Tajik border in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region took place on March 13.

Muzaffar Yusufzoda, a spokesman for Sughd governor, says the ceremony was attended by Tajikistan Ambassador to Uzbekistan Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, Sughd Governor Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, Fergana Governor Khairullo Bozorov and entrepreneurs from Sughd and Fergana regions.

According to him, Uzbekistan has allocated 8 million US dollars for construction of the cross-border market on an area of 5 hectares at the Andarkhon-Patar border crossing point (BCP) between Besharik district of Uzbekistan’s Fergana region and Konibodom district of Tajikistan’s Sughd province. 

“200 shops , bank branch, restaurant, café, hotel and logistics center will be located in the Andarkhon market,” Yusufzoda added.
