Tajik MFA information department says the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan, arrived in Dushanbe Tuesday evening on an official visit.

At Dushanbe International Airport, the distinguished guest was reportedly met by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Farrukh Sharifzoda.

Tajik MFA refrained from giving further details.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye reported on January 9 that Mr. Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, will visit the Republic of Tajikistan on January 10, 2024, upon the invitation of Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

During the meetings, bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral platforms with Tajikistan as well as current regional and international issues of mutual concern will be discussed.

Fidan's visit comes a day after a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubayev in Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, on Tuesday.

HABERLER.COM says Fidan and Kulubyaev discussed the Russia-Ukraine war, Israel's attack on Gaza, as well as bilateral relations and ways to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of trade. –

Daily Sabah reports that the top diplomats of Turkiye and Kyrgyzstan came together in Bishkek on January 9 as Ankara expands its ties with Central Asia and Turkic states.

Fidan reportedly noted that they held the sixth joint strategic planning meeting with the Kyrgyz side and signed a 2024-2026 program for cooperation.  He said leaders of the two countries would attend a high-level strategic cooperation meeting in the future.  He noted that the countries carried out joint projects and discussed the economic steps with his counterpart, especially a more efficient and permanent way to improve commerce and exchange ideas on travel between the two countries without a passport.

Fidan was cited as saying that they also exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine war.  He reportedly discussed Turkiye's position as the country with the longest coastline on the Black Sea, its relations with Ukraine and Russia and how it can be effective in reviving the Black Sea grain deal.
