DUSHANBE, July 13, Asia-Plus – 65 builders from Tajikistan constructing large shopping center “IKEA” in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg diagnosed with food poisoning were hospitalized on July 12.

Prosecutor’s office in the Ust-Isetsky district of Yekaterinburg has launched investigation into the matter under Article 236, Part 1 of Russia’s Criminal Code (violation of sanitary-epidemiological requirements).  

According to RIA Novosti, more than 90 workers with symptoms of food intoxication were taken to Central City Hospital No. 40 from the site for shopping center Tuesday evening.  

The preliminary investigation has established that 1,500 people daily work on the site and they feed in a covered pavilion.  Food and water are supplied by employees of two commercial companies under contract.  Investigation is under way.
