On the sidelines of a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda on May 24 met in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat, with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Neitralniy Turkmenistan (Neutral Turkmenistan) reports Rasoulzoda conveyed his heartfelt messages to the head of state and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan greetings and best wishes from the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

Berdimuhamdov reportedly noted with satisfaction that recently relations between Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have noticeably intensified, emphasizing that the development of bilateral ties is based on the long-standing traditions of friendship and good neighborliness of the Turkmen and Tajik peoples.

The cultural and humanitarian sphere is also an integral component of bilateral relations, Turkmen president emphasized.

In this regard, Tajik prime minister said the construction of a secondary school named after Magtymguly in the Dousti district of Tajikistan’s Khatlon province is a striking example of fraternal relations between the two countries in the field of education.

Noting that Turkmenistan intends to further strengthen constructive cooperation with Tajikistan for the benefit of the fraternal peoples, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Emomali Rahmon.

On the same day, Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda visited the city of Arkadag, where he met with the Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan D. Orazov.

Then, a study tour of the “smart «city of Arkadag was organized for Tajik prime minister.

This opens up wide opportunities for exchange of experience and fruitful cooperation on implementation of the “smart city” concept, Neitralniy Turkmenistan reported.

Mr. Rasoulzoda reportedly expressed gratitude for the opportunity to get acquainted with the “smart” city of Arkadag, which made an unforgettable impression on him.

Smart cities use a variety of software, user interfaces and communication networks alongside the Internet of Things (IoT) to deliver connected solutions for the public.  Of these, the IoT is the most important.  The IoT is a network of connected devices that communicate and exchange data.

The main goal of a smart city is to optimize city functions and promote economic growth while also improving the quality of life for citizens by using smart technologies and data analysis.  The value lies in how this technology is used rather than simply how much technology is available.  A city’s smartness is determined using a set of characteristics, including: an infrastructure based around technology; environmental initiatives; effective and highly functional public transportation; confident and progressive city plans; and people able to live and work within the city, using its resources
