According to data from the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Tajikistan, 11,804 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year, which is192 cases more than in the same period last year. In January-June 2023, there were 11,612 crimes reported in the country.
The number of the reported cases and attempted murders has increased by 70.83 percent over the reporting period – from 24 cases in January-June 2023 to 41 cases in January-June 2024.
The number of the reported cases of armed robbery has reportedly more than doubled over the same six-month period – from 5 cases in January-June 2023 to 11 cases over the first six months of this year.
Over the reporting period, the number of frauds reported has increased by 22.1 percent, the number of the reported cases of hooliganism has increased by 16.5 percent, intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm – by 13 percent, and human trafficking – by 11.8 percent.
Over the first six months of this year, the number of the reported juvenile crimes has increased by 74 cases, reaching 332. In January-June 2023, 258 juvenile crimes were reported in the country.
Meanwhile, compared to January-June last year, the number of following crimes has significantly decreased over the first six months of this year: robbery – by 45.9 percent; rape – 32 percent; theft – 8.7 percent; extortion – by 23.1 percent; and drug trafficking – by 3.4 percent.
The Interior Ministry notes that 87.2 percent of all crimes have been solved over the first six months of this year.
