Iran and Tajikistan strengthen ties for a sustainable future, says Iranian minister

Date:

Iranian media reports say Iran’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Ali Madanizadeh, has underlined the growing momentum in economic and cultural cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, calling it a foundation for sustainable regional development.

IRNA reports that speaking at the 2025 International Investment Forum in Dushanbe on October 14, Madanizadeh pointed to green investment, energy, technology, transportation, and agriculture as key pillars of future collaboration. The forum, which focused on sustainable investment, served as a platform for exchanging ideas and forging new partnerships.

Madanizadeh reportedly described the event as a “bridge to a prosperous future” and outlined a shared vision to expand bilateral trade beyond US$500 million. He highlighted recent agreements covering transport, customs, fisheries, mining, and agriculture as critical steps toward this goal.

Tajikistan’s potential in green energy, mining, and water resources was also emphasized, with Madanizadeh describing the country as a secure and attractive destination for investors.

Despite international sanctions, he affirmed Iran’s readiness to engage in regional cooperation, especially in clean energy, digital economy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.

The Iranian minister noted that true regional integration, inspired by the legacy of the ancient Silk Road, depends on strengthening both bilateral and multilateral partnerships.

This renewed momentum follows a recent high-level meeting between the presidents of Iran and Tajikistan, which resulted in the signing of 23 cooperation agreements—a milestone seen as a turning point in relations between the two nations.
