KHUJAND, March 5, 2009, Asia-Plus — Rotational power cutoffs have been abandoned in Khujand, the capital of the Sughd province.

Juma Vohidov, the engineer-in-chief with the Khujand electric systems, told Asia-Plus today that they abandoned the rotational power cutoffs in the city on March 1.

According to him, the rotational power cutoffs could negatively impact the power supply situation in the city; therefore, they have decided to keep the previous power supply schedule, gradually increasing it.

At present, the Khujand residential customers have electricity five hour per day: two hours in the morning (from 6:00 am to 8:00 am) and three hours in the evening (from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm), which is 1 and half hours more than in the previous months,” the engineer-in-chief said.
