DUSHANBE, November 18, 2010, Asia-Plus  — On Wednesday November 17, the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov met with Indian Ambassador to Tajikistan Asith Kumar Bhattacharjee.

According to the Majlisi Namoyandagon press service, the sides discussed issues related to cooperation between the parliaments of Tajikistan and India.

Tajik speaker expressed hope for expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in the future.

Indian diplomat, for his part, noted that his country could give youth of Tajikistan an opportunity to learn the basics of English through establishing a training center, Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon said.

Mr. Asith Kumar Bhattacharjee also noted that India could assist Tajikistan with introduction of latest technologies and development of private sector, hydropower engineering, coal production, leather processing and pharmaceutical industry in the country.

It was noted that the Dushanbe-New Delhi flight would be reopened in the near future.

Indian diplomat also noted that India planned to open a hospital in Tajikistan, at which Tajik specialists could work along with their Indian colleagues, Sultonov said.
