DUSHANBE, October 2, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Iranian investors are interested in launching joint ventures on producing carpets and mining precious metals in Tajikistan.

On Friday October 1, Said Sharif, the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), met here with Hasan Hodion (phonetically spelled), top manager of the Mashhad company L.K.K. Co, and Maryam Eslami, CEO of RC.L.K.K. Co, according to the CCI press service.

Investment and joint projects implementation issues were a major topic of the talks.

The CCI head noted that modern technologies and equipment were needed for mining and processing precious metals and organizing production of carpets in Tajikistan.  According to him, these projects could promote creation of new jobs in the country.

Iranian investors, for their part, noted that they were interested in investing in enhancement of Tajikistan’s industrial sector, mining and processing of precious ad semi-precious stones and launching joint production.  They also expressed readiness to train Tajik specialists in carpet producing, launch joint ventures for producing hand-made carpets from local raw materials and invest in construction of cement in Tajikistan, the CCI press service said.
