Taxes a total of more than 1.2 billion Somonis supposed to collected this year

DUSHANBE, January 31, Asia-Plus — For the purpose of achieving goals set by the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) President Rahmonov Monday [January 30] urged at the government’s session to work out the national strategy on raising living standards, enhancing education and health sectors as well as improving provision of population with gas, electricity, safety drinking water and communication service for the period up to 2015 in the first half-year of 2005 and submit it for consideration to the government.  

Telling the session head of state noted that in 2005, the national budget was fulfilled hardly and targets on three kinds of taxes were not fulfilled and as a result the budget received 20 million less than its due.    

“Although revenue parts of regional budgets were fulfilled as a whole, Khatlon, Sughd and Gorno Badakhshan, however, failed to fulfill their target on some kinds of taxes,” Rahmonov said, noting that Isfara, Panjakent, Darvoz, Roshtqala, Ishkashim, Asht, Ghonchi, Mastchoh, Bobojonghafurov, Vakhsh and Hamadoni failed to fulfill their targets on revenues.  

Over the past five years, the rate of collection of taxes in the republic has increased three times.    

“This year, it is planned to collect taxes for a total amount of 1.249 billion Somonis, which is four times more compared to 2001,” Rahmonov stressed.
