DUSHANBE, May 15, 2010, Asia-Plus — Under good conditions for business, the textile sector could be one of the most perspective and important sectors of economic development in Tajikistan, Zayd Saidov, the head of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Tajikistan, told reporters in Pugus on May 14 on sidelines of the OIC Business Forum meeting.
“Under the appropriate conditions, Tajik textile industry is able to find its niche at the world market as well,” Zayd Saidov said, citing as an example the Dushanbe clothing factory, Guliston, which exports its product to other countries.
According to him, creation of favorable conditions for entrepreneurship allows expanding export potential and outlets in the CIS countries, particularly in Russia.
“Thus, conditions created for development entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have allowed textile enterprises from these countries to push aside Chinese products in Russian markets,” Saidov said.
“Tajikistan has god potential for attraction of investments,” noted he, “First of all, it is cheap manpower, electric power and raw material resources, which is important for any investor.”
However, there are a number of factors that impede attraction of investments, Saidov added. Among them are transportation problems, remoteness from seaports for exporting products to other countries as well as artificially created barriers for getting licenses, he stressed.
