JIRGATOL, April 15, 2010, Asia-Plus  — One person has been killed and one other has been injured during blast works carried out in the Jirgatol district within the framework of the Dushanbe-Vahdat-Nourbod-Jirgatol-Saritash road rehabilitation project.

The tragedy took place near the settlement of Jirgatol, some 276 kilometers northeast of Dushanbe, yesterday afternoon.  “Tajik worker Mahmad Haidarov, 40, died and Chinese worker Lu Hyui Wu (phonetically spelled), 39, sustained moderately severe injuries,” the source at the Committee for Emergency Situations (CES) said.

According to him, the tragedy was caused by non-observance of safety requirements during the blast works.
