In Dushanbe, as a result of operational search activities, officers from police station No 1 in Dushanbe’s Sino district found a 15-year-old teenager who had gone missing several days ago. The parents had reported their son’s disappearance to the police.
The Dushanbe Police’s press service says Sobirov, Yosin Ghafourov, Karomatullo Muminov, Habibullo Muminov, and Mahmoudjon Rizoyey were demanding a large sum of money from him,” the police statement said. “These individuals have been detained on suspicion of extortion.”
The investigation reportedly established that the suspects, having preliminarily united into a group, stopped the minor while he was driving a Jetour car, recording the event on video. Threatening to distribute the video, they demanded 14,000 somoni from him.
Whose car it is and how the teenager ended up driving it is not explained in the material. It is only noted that the suspects are currently in custody, and criminal proceedings have been instituted against them under Article 250 of Tajikistan’s Criminal Code — extortion of the republic’s Criminal Code, which provides for a penalty of 5 to 20 years of imprisonment.
The police urge citizens who have suffered from the unlawful actions of these individuals to contact the capital’s police at the number (+992) 018-02-02-02.
