DUSHANBE, February 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — On Thursday February 5, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon received visiting Iran’s Minister of Commerce Masoud Mirkazemi.

According to presidential press service, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.

They, in particular, discussed the progress of implementation of investment projects that have been implemented in Tajikistan with participation of Iranian companies.

Today, Iranian minister also held talks with Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and Energy and Industries Gul Sherali.

As it had been reported earlier, Mirkazemi on February 4 held talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Chairman Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev and Economic Development and trade Minister Ghulomjon Bobozoda.

Mr. Mirkazemi arrived in Dushanbe Tuesday evening on a two-day working visit.

According to the State Committee for Statistics, a two-day trade between Tajikistan and Iran in 2008 valued at 216.1971 million US dollars.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Iran estimated at $95.634 million and Tajikistan’s imports from Iran worth $120.5361 million.
