DUSHANBE, September 23, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Police have reportedly identified the killer of Saidumar Saidov, the chief of the criminal investigation squad within the Isfara police.

The source at the Ministry of Interior said that an operation to determine the whereabouts of the killer was under way.  “The person suspected of having killed the Isfara police official has been wanted by police for involvement in killing of two police officers in Isfara last year,” the source said, noting that killer’s name is not disclosed n the interest of investigation.

We will recall that Interior Minister Abdurahim Qahhorov had taken investigation into this killing under his own control.

According to the MoI officials, the main version is that the murder is connected with Saidov’s professional activity.  In the meantime, the Isfara law enforcement authorities noted that it could be not ruled out that militants of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) could be involved in the murder of the local police official.

As it had been reported earlier, Saidumar Saidov was shot by unidentified persons outside his apartment in Isfara on September 18 at around 3:30 pm.
