DUSHANBE, July 27, 2009, Asia-Plus — In January-June this year, the Khujand-based Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the Ministry of Health (MoH) has successfully performed 128 serious operations, which is nearly two times more than in the same period of last year, according to Health Minister Nusratullo Salimov. In the first half-year of 2008, the center performed 66 such operations, the minister said.
“Over the first six months of this year, physicians working with the center have performed 49 coronary arteriographies and 15 angioplasties as well as have successfully operated on 21 children suffering from various congenital heart diseases,” Salimov said.
He added that Iran’s private company intended to open a new center for cardiovascular surgery in Dushanbe.
