DUSHANBE, May 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — A large arms cache has been discovered in Dushanbe.

According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), police officers on May 22 discovered large arms cache in Dushanbe.  The found the cache while searching one of private houses in the Tajik capital.

5 sub-machine-guns Kalashnikov and 12 magazines for them, one grenade launcher and 27 shells for it, two hand grenades and 734 bullets of different caliber were extracted from the hide, the source at a MoI said.

The same day, sub-machine-gun Kalashnikov and four magazines and 24 bullets for it were discovered in one of orchards in Khatlon’s Khovaling district.

Police officers have seized 501 firearms, including 124 submachine-guns Kalashnikov, 56 pistol, 93 rifles, 56 grenade launchers and many other weapons, since the beginning of this year, the source said.
