DUSHANBE, May 20, Asia-Plus — First deputy director of the Drug Control Agency (DCA), Major-General Vaysiddin Azamatov, represented Tajikistan at a meeting of heads of the competent agencies authorized to combat narcotics of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations that was held in Moscow yesterday, according to the DCA department for international cooperation.
The meeting participants discussed the pace of implementation of the agreement between the SCO states on combating drug trafficking that was signed on June 17, 2004 as well as issues related to border and customs regimes along the SCO states’ common border with Afghanistan. They also considered development of mechanism of anti-drug cooperation with counternarcotics agencies of the United Nations and other international organizations.
