DUSHANBE, January 22, 2011, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree on January 10 establishing a new agency to be in charge of the country’s migration policy, according to the presidential press service.
The Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan will regulate labor migration processes, rational use of manpower outside the country and protection of rights and interests of labor migration.
The Migration Service will also deal with organizing vocational training for labor migrants, employing Tajik nationals abroad and establishing relations with fellow-countrymen living outside the country and foreign nationals living in Tajikistan.
The decree also provides for establishment of the Migration Service’s offices at embassies and consulates of Tajikistan in the countries, where Tajik labor migrants work, the press service said.
Safiullo Devonayev, formerly chief of the migration service within the Ministry of Interior, was appointed to head the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan.
