KHUJAND, January 21 2009, Asia-Plus  — Three persons were killed Tuesday as two vehicles collided in Sughd’s Spitamen district, according to the Sughd police directorate.

The accident took place in the territory of Kurkat in the Spitamen district, the 260th kilometer of the road Dushanbe-Khujand-Chanak (Uzbek border town).

A sedan Daewoo-Leganza driven by Marouf Siddiqov went into oncoming traffic and collided with a truck ZIL-130 driven by Ziyovuddin Jabborov.  As a result of the collision, two passengers of Daewoo-Leganza- the 53-year-old Mutabar Jamoliddinova and the 39-year-old Munira Siddiqova  – died on the sport and the third passenger – the 77-year-old Muazzam Siddiqova – died on the way to the Spitamen central district hospital.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Over the past two days, two other persons have been killed in the traffic accidents in the Bobojonghafurov district, the source at the Sughd police directorate said.
