Dushanbe police report large Afghan ‘chars’ haul

DUSHANBE, February 17, 2011, Asia-Plus  — Dushanbe police have reported a large Afghan ‘chars’ haul.

28-year-old M.K. was detained in Dushanbe yesterday on suspicion of drug pushing and 18.5 kilograms of ‘chars’ and some two kilograms of heroin were confiscated from him, the source said.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddler and an investigation is under way.

In January 2011, Tajik law enforcement authorities seized more than 600 kilograms of narcotics.
