DUSHANBE, June 13, 2011, Asia-Plus – Chairman of Sughd District Kohir Rasulzoda headed the disaster recovery headquarters which was set up this morning after natural disasters that hit northern Tajikistan on Sunday.

Mudslides caused by heavy rainfalls caused the most severe damage to Asht region.

According to the State Emergency Situations and Civil Defense Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, mudslides which occurred in the area have destroyed 33 houses in Bobodarkhon and Saro villages of the region. Nearly 450 houses were partially destroyed. Severe damage was caused to secondary schools #1 and #48. No victims have been reported.

Members of the regional headquarters, including emergency officials and head of the district, are now investigating the scene.
