DUSHANBE, July 13, 2011, Asia-Plus — Tajik athletes have won 125 medals in 34 various international, republican and regional competitions over the first six months of this year.

According to the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, Tajik athletes have won 38 gold, 34 silver and 53 bronze medals over the report period.

54 sports events, including 37 republican tournaments and 19 republican championships on various types of sports, have taken place in Tajikistan in January-June this year, the source said, noting that those sports events have involved some 6,000 athletes, including 720 women.

“Seven republican competitions have been held in Dushanbe, six in Khatlon province, three in Sughd province, three in Gorno Badakhshan and two in districts subordinate to the center,” the source added.
