DUSHANBE, January 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  – New public premium bonds are expected to be issued in Tajikistan starting from March 30, 2009, according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

The source at a MoF said that they would be medium-term bonds issued for the period of 10 years.  The government will issue public premium bonds of 10 and 20 somoni’s denomination and winnings on them are set at 20, 40, 100, 200, 300, 500, 1,000 and 1,500 somoni.

“The bonds are currently printed in Germany by a company that also prints the national currency – the Somoni – for Tajikistan,” the source said, noting that holders of the premium bonds issued in 2002 might exchange them for the new bonds or receive the amount due to them.

In all, 60 drawings are held for the 2002 bonds during ten years – six drawings each year with periodicity of once per two months.  The 41st drawing for the 2002 bonds will be held on January 30 this year.

As it had been reported earlier, the new public premium bonds are issued in Tajikistan by government’s resolution of December 29, 2008, and 60 drawings will be held during ten years.
