DUSHANBE, July 15, Asia-Plus — An overall space of more than 250,000 square meters in residential buildings has been made available in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year, according to Agency for Construction and Architecture under the Government of Tajikistan.

The source says during January-June 2011 investments in fixed capital from all sources of financing were used in an amount of more than 1.9 billion somoni, which is 344 million somoni more than during the same period last year (in prices actually in effect).

Over the report period construction and erecting works for more than 1.5 billion have reportedly been carried out across the country.

“New secondary schools to accommodate totaling 900 pupils have been built in the country over the report period,” the source said.

According to him, the work on improvement of 25 cities and district administrative centers in accordance with their municipal redevelopment plans is under way.

“Planning institute, Shahrofar, is currently working out municipal redevelopment plans for the cities of Qurghon Teppa, Istaravshan, Sarband, Panjakent, and Qairoquum as well as the districts of Shouroobod, Jomi, Rushan, Roshtqala and Khovaling,” the source added.
