DUSHANBE, July 29, 2011, Asia-Plus — Afghan side has informed Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry of a recent incident on Tajik-Afghan border in which eight Afghan nationals have been killed.

Davlat Nazriyev, a spokesman for Tajik MFA, says that during Afghan foreign minister’s visit to Tajikistan, the Tajik side was informed of “the Afghan version of what happened on the border.”  According to the Afghan version of the incident, person killed on the border were allegedly members of a tourist group.

“The ministry is currently studying the incident that took place on the Tajik-Afghan border on July 23 because our power-wielding structures have their own version of that fatal incident,” the spokesman said.

We will recall that the source at one of power-wielding structures of Tajikistan told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon that eight trespassers were killed on the Shouroobod stretch of the Tajik-Afghan border on July 23.  A large amount of firearms and more than 50 kilograms of narcotics, primarily hashish, were reportedly found on the spot.
