KHUJAND, December 15, 2008, Asia-Plus — In January-November 2008, the foreign trade turnover of the Sughd province, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to 973.7038 million US dollars, which is 141.7 percent of the January-November 2007 level or US$286.7491 million more, according to the Sughd agency for statistics.

The trade balance was negative and amounted to 677.3148 million dollars.

Exports of goods over the report period have amounted to 148.1945 million dollars, which is 1.4 percent or 2.0897 million dollars fewer than in the same period of last year.

Imports of goods into the province in January-November 2008 have amounted to $825.5093 million, which is 53.8 percent or 288.8394 million dollars more than in January-November 2007.

Over the same eleven-month period, the Sughd province has had foreign trade relations with 63 countries of the world, including 11 CIS states.

The CIS states accounted for 64.5 percent ($627.6955 million) of Sughd’s external trade turnover in January-November 2008, and other foreign countries accounted for 35.5 percent ($346.0083 million).

Over the report period, the far abroad countries have been Sughd’s main export partners, accounting for 53.1 percent ($78.7388 million) of its exports.  Imports have come mainly from the CIS states, which have accounted for 66.5 percent ($548.9567 million) of Sughd’s imports in January-November 2008.

Share of electrical power has accounted for 3.4 percent of the Sughd external trade turnover.  In all, the province has imported 2.2003 billion kWh of electricity for $33.0051 million over the same eleven-month period.

Over the report period, the province has imported 110.3 million cubic meters of natural gas for $16.5296 million.
