Tajikistan’s biggest cement producing factory – Tajikcement – has resumed its work on April 25 after a one-month standing.
Factory is now operating in two shifts, Tajik Energy and Industry Ministry told AP. “The factory receives 6000 cubic meters of gas per hour which is enough for one stove only,” the ministry has said, adding that this volume of gas supplies allows the factory to produce 600 tons of cement per day.
In early April this year Uzbekistan cut natural gas supplies to Tajikistan claiming that “the country does not have enough resources for internal needs.”
Tajikcement was forced to stop production of cement since the enterprises uses natural gas as the main fuel.
Last Monday Tajikcement and Chinese Beijing Jinchuang Combined Gas Meter Co.Ltd. signed Memorandum of Cooperation, under which the Chinese company will switch Tajikcement to coal fuel.
Representatives of the Chinese company are expected to visit the enterprise in the nearest time to study its production lines and will design a feasibility study to switch the enterprise to coal fuel.
Earlier this month Gul Sherali met with representatives of another Chinese company – TBEA – and offered them cooperation in switching Tajikcement to coal fuel. Representatives of TBEA company promised to think about the offer.
