Tajikistan
’s Supreme Court has passed sentences on 19 criminal proceedings instituted against 27 people, The Supreme Court Chairman Izbillo Khojayev announced at a news conference in
Dushanbe
on July 12.
In the first half-year of 2005, the Supreme Court passed sentences on 41 criminal proceedings instituted against 58 people, according to him.
Over the first six months of this year, the appeals court of Tajikistan’s Supreme Court has considered 274 cases instituted against 369 convicted as well as 154 civil cases. Numerous errors and violations have been revealed in activity of lower court instances, Mr. Khojayev said.
Over the same six-month period, the Supreme Court has disaffirmed 70 verdicts against 96 people and changed 60 sentences on 86 convicted, the Supreme Court head said.
