Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Federal Republic of Germany Horst Koehler held talks in Berlin on 14 November.

During the meeting, the heads of state discussed prospects and possibilities of speeding up the Turkmen-German partnership. They singled out trade-economic and industrial spheres, fuel and energy sector, agriculture as well as humanitarian cooperation as priority areas of cooperation.

As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, the Federal Republic of Germany is one of the main trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan. “The range of bilateral contacts in this sphere is quite broad. This is natural because we are interested in the fullest use of German potential in modernizing Turkmenistan”s flagship economic sectors,” the president of Turkmenistan said.

“The world knows contemporary Turkmenistan as a state whose leader is confidently pursuing the policy of open doors and progressive reforms aimed at major reformation of the country, its advancing social-economic and cultural development, confident integration into the world system of coordinates. This is a policy that guarantees that our partnership will develop at a fast pace,” Horst Koehler said.
