Four investment projects are being developed in country’s railway sector at present. Askar Mamin, “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC President announced this during his working trip to Karaganda today. Work is conducted under a commission of Nursultan Nazarbaev, Kazakh President.

“The 1st project is about construction of a locomotive assembly plant in Astana. The 2nd project concerns assembly of electric locomotives in Akbasar with project capacity of 75 units per year. The 3rd one is on construction of passenger wagons on Almaty Wagon Repair Plant basis. And the last project is about freight cars construction in volume of 5000 units per year,” Mamin explained. According to him, Astana locomotive assembly plant will be put into commission in the middle of 2009.
