DUSHANBE, March 15, Asia-Plus — In 2005, a trade turnover between Tajikistan and Turkey exceeded US$165 million and 33 joint ventures with participation of the Turkish capital and nine Turkish companies have to date worked in Tajikistan, President Rahmonov remarked at the groundbreaking ceremony for the “Ismoili Somonis” Hotel in Dushanbe on March 15.  

“Many of them have made considerable contribution to the construction roads and other economic facilities in the republic,” Rahmonov stressed, noting that expansion of bilateral and multilateral economic cooperation facilitates increase in foreign investment in Tajikistan’s economy, development of the country’s economic branches and creation of new jobs in Tajikistan.  

“We will support drumming up such investments in the construction of the hydropower plants and other energy facilities, development of non-ferrous metallurgy, agrarian sector, transportation and telecommunications in Tajikistan,” said President Rahmonov, “The construction of hotels will allow creating conditions for holding of various international events in our country and developing tourism and relevant industries in Tajikistan.”
