DUSHANBE, March 30, Asia-Plus — Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) directorate for Sughd province seized 6.5 kilograms of heroin at hotel in the northern city of Panjakent, according to information from the DCA press service.   

Avaz Yuldoshev, a spokesman for the DCA, says the preliminary investigation has established that the drugs were transported to Panjakent from one of Tajik districts bordering on Afghanistan in the summer last year.  Investigation is under way.  

Officers from the Sughd drug-control directorate have received information about the drugs hidden at the hotel by hotline from anonymous source, according to him.   

Since the beginning of the year, the Drug Control Agency has intercepted more than 250 kilograms of drugs, according to Avaz Yuldoshev.
