DUSHANBE, May 15, Asia-Plus – 800 Tajik officials of different levels involved in drug trafficking have been arrested over the past five year, President Rahmonov remarked inaugurating an international conference on fighting drug trafficking and the second meeting of working group for security and fighting drug trafficking in Central and South Asia in Dushanbe today.

Rahmonov named drug trafficking the main source of financing of terrorism.  He pointed to the necessity of working out measures to jointly address the global challenges and threats.  

President Rahmonov highly appraised a role of Russian border troops that had been stationed on the Tajik-Afghan border in combating the drug trafficking.  He noted that a system of state structures for countering drug threat emanating from
