DUSHANBE, May 18, Asia-Plus — Winners of Republican Schoolchildren’s Sports and Athletics Meeting that was held in Dushanbe on May 13-17 may enter Tajikistan’s Institute of Physical Training without passing examinations.

Sulaymon Abdulvohidov, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Sports and Physical Training Committee, remarked this in his interview with Asia-Plus Wednesday, on completion of the competitions.  

A team of Dushanbe winning 57 golden, 22 silver and 20 bronze medals has taken the first place in the schoolchildren’s sports and athletics meeting in Dushanbe.  The Dushanbe team is followed by athletics from Sughd who won 26 golden, 34 silver and 31 bronze medals.  Schoolchildren from Gorno Badakhshan with 10 golden, 7 silver and 35 bronze medals have taken the third place.     

Mr. Abdulvohidov said that the republican schoolchildren’s sports and athletics meeting would be held each two years.  

Some 1,200 schoolchildren from Dushanbe, Gorno Badakhshan, Khatlon and Sughd province, as well as districts subordinate to the center took part at this sports meeting.  Schoolchildren competed in 11 different sports: volleyball; basketball; taekwon-do (WTF); sambo (unarmed combat), Greek-Roman wrestling, table tennis, boxing, field and track athletics, mini-football, etc.
